Daniel "DC" Cormier returns to action to face Stipe Miocic, at UFC 252 in a well-anticipated rubber match. The former Olympian did lose his last fight against the Cleveland native, falling in the fourth round after Stipe found a home for the left body-hook. Many, including the man himself, see this fight being the former two-weight world champion's last outing, however, we're going to explore the possibility of him at-least making the walk to the Octagon one more time.
Yes, we know that "DC" has already stated this is his last fight, but nowadays, what a fighter says and does are two completely different things. If he walks away from the trilogy fight with no injuries or damage, what's to say we couldn't see the much-anticipated heavyweight bout between Cormier and his long-time rival, Jon Jones?
One of the contributing factors towards the original question is that Dana White would definitely want to cash in on a heavyweight title fight between the Louisiana native and the current light-heavyweight champion. Dana could make the 41-year-old an offer that he simply cannot refuse.

Another key talking point being, is Daniel really coming towards the end of his prime and unable to compete at the top level? Absolutely not. The man is still in my top 3 current P4P fighters, and I'm sure he's in a lot of other people's, too. "DC", in my opinion, could still compete at the same high standard we've come to expect from the future Hall of Famer. Take a look at the UFC Heavyweight current top 10. Are there many fighters within that division that could really pose a threat to the wrestler? I don't believe so.
Furthermore, Cormier has spoken in length many times about his desire to run it back one more time with Jones. So surely, if he is victorious at UFC 252, a final match to avenge his biggest short-coming would be the only logical decision? If the former UFC two-weight champion could finally best "Bones" in what would be his last ever bout, he would put himself firmly in poll-position for UFC G.O.A.T status.
Lastly, and I admit this is 100% me being selfish, I just don't feel like I'm ready to stop watching the #6 P4P fighter throw leather. The performances are still world class against the best fighters in the world. I truly believe that Cormier could compete at the top level for years to come.
