Prelim Watch: Maki Pitolo vs. Impa Kasanganay

Chris Simpson

Anthony "Lionheart" Smith takes on dangerous knock-out artist Aleksandar Rakic in the main event of this weekends UFC card. Whilst the majority of the focus will be on the co-main and main event, we are going to take a look an exciting prelim bout which is flying under the radar of many MMA fans.

Saturday's feature prelim bout see's dangerous serial finisher Maki "Coconut Bombz" Pitolo take on Contender Series winner Impa "Tshilobo" Kasanganay. The fight promises to be an exciting ordeal, and may have big ramifications in the future of the middleweight division.

Pitolo comes into the fight on a one-fight skid, recently losing to Darren Stewart via a guillotine choke in the first round. This will be Hawaii-native's fourth fight in the UFC, and after suffering a mixed bag of results, will look to gain some real momentum in the middleweight division. The 29-year-old has impressive knock-out power, and if he puts the pressure on from the off, could close out the fight early.

Impa Kasanganay looks like he's been carved from stone. Honestly, straight off the bat, what an athlete the 26-year-old is. Despite having zero finishes in his 7 professional bouts, Impa has tremendous power and his strength, when it comes to grappling, is very impressive. Kasanganay will looks to take the fight to the ground early, and neutralise the power of Pitolo.

This is difficult fight for Impa Kasanganay's debut, but if he is able to walk out of the bout with a victory, it could put the rest of the division on notice.
