The UFC welterweight title fight between Kamaru Usman and Gilbert Burns has been indefinitely postponed. The fight, which was due to take place at UFC 256 on December 12, but the UFC will now look at an early 2021 date for the fight.
The news was first reported by ESPN, with champion Usman needing more time off to recover from undisclosed injuries for the bout.

This is the second time a fight between the two has been delayed, with Burns pulling out of a title fight in July after testing positive for COVID-19.
Burns was replaced by Jorge Masvidal for the fight and Usman won by unanimous decision.
The fight was never officially confirmed for the UFC 256 event, but it was highly speculated that the two would face off on the UFC's final PPV of the year. With the welterweight title fight off the cards for UFC 256, the solo title fight set to take place on the card will see Amanda Nunes defend her featherweight title against Megan Anderson.
