UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones has vacated the title, he announced on Twitter earlier today.
Rumours of Jones moving up to heavyweight have been circulating for a while, but the rumour is only gaining more traction now that Bones is vacating his title.
The champ released the following statement on his Twitter revealing the news:
"Just got off the phone with the @Ufc, today I confirm that I'm vacating the light heavyweight championship. It's officially up for grabs. It's been an amazing journey, sincere thank you to all my competition, Ufc and most importantly you fans."

Jones has reigned supreme over the division following his debut back in August 2008 and this will ultimately open up a number of opportunities for a fresh face to take the throne.
It was reported earlier today by ESPN's Brett Okomoto that the UFC was eyeing a potential fight between Dominick Reyes and Jan Blachowicz on September 26 and that now looks like it will most likely be for the vacant title.
