Eric Spicely has been released from the UFC following a weight cutting issue led to the fighter dropping out of his fight at the weekend.
Spicely, who's record stands at 12-5, last fought just over a year ago in a fight of the night loss to Deron Winn in June 2019.

This is the second time the 33-year-old has been cut from the organisation, with him last being released back in 2018. A two-fight win streak saw him return to the UFC mid-last year, but his loss to Winn stands as the only trip to the octagon he made this time around.
Spicely tweeted a statement on the decision, saying:
"Alright @ufc this is goodbye again for now. Let’s see if we can do a 3 peat. Sorry to all my fans."

The decision to cut the American hasn't made the UFC very popular, with many feeling the choice was distasteful following the statement Spicely released about the weight cut issues, pointing towards the antidepressants he's taking as a huge factor.
"For the sake of transparency this was my first weight cut since starting antidepressants due to the head trauma I sustained in the Deron Winn fight. Needless to say it went horribly wrong and my fight is off. I will figure this problem out and hopefully be able to compete again."
